Dr. Teresa Tacopina graduated from St Georges University School of Medicine in 2002. She completed her Internal Medicine Internship and residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center (2002-2005). She was chosen to be a Chief Medical Resident at the University of Connecticut from 2005-2006. After graduating from her Internal Medicine training program, Dr. Tacopina returned to her hometown of New York where she completed a three year fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., an affiliate of the State University of New York Health Science Center (SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn).
Dr. Tacopina is an active member of several national gastrointestinal organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopists (ASGE). She has presented several abstracts/posters at the annual ACG meetings during her fellowship training. Dr. Tacopina is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology/Hepatology.
